Unconditional

On the 64th anniversary of D-Day I, finally, may have an unconventional answer to the question “If you could live in any era what would it be and why?” asked by Whitneyslisle’s Weblog. Unconventional because it may not be the type of answer the question was intended to elicit.

When our nation committed to meet the threat before it and the rest of the free world, it’s leadership committed this great nation to demand and receive “unconditional surrender” from it’s enemies. Once committed, there was no holding back and 60 plus years later we still support our troops in the “unconditionally surrendered” countries who are now, and have been for many years, our friends.

If you could live in any era what would it be and why?

Perhaps this era would be my answer. Heroes then and heroes now, great nations then and great nations now, true leadership then and now, commits “unconditionally” to truly important things. Not so different than each of us are called to do in our walk with Christ. He gave unconditionally and perhaps our greatest goal can be to have the courage and faith to trust in, and commit to, Him as unconditionally.

Thank you Whitney.
